There are still plenty of chances to drop by one of Rochester’s many events this summer and chat with us, pick up some pointers on HIV research, and grab some *stellar* swag.

Undergrad seminar at Nazareth

Hair & Health Symposium
Sunday, Oct 13, 3 – 7pm
Edgerton R-Center
“It’s all about you!” Rudi will be on hand to chat during this hair-centric event, featuring presentations by hair, skin and health experts. Free admission; dinner and door prizes included!
Meet at the Stardust Ballroom at the Edgerton R-Center, 41 Backus Street, between 3 – 7 pm. Presented by Common Ground Health and the Get It Done initiative; sponsored by UR Medicine’s Wilmot Cancer Institute Community Outreach and Engagement Department.
SUNY Brockport Fall Health and Wellness Fair
Wednesday Oct 22, 11am – 2pm
Seymour Union Ballroom
This fair is aimed at connecting students, faculty, and staff to community health and wellness services. It is in the Seymour Union Ballroom. Vendors are asked to arrive by 10:30 a.m.; table and chairs provided.
Sex and Chocolate Fair

This annual event is sponsored by University Health Services’ Health Promotion Office at U of R. As found on their website, “Through our health education initiatives, we aim to increase knowledge, build skills, and influence students’ motivation to adopt healthy habits.”

Black Pride Health Fair
Saturday, Sept 21, 1 – 4 pm
Rochester Black Pride‘s “Health is Wealth” resource fair features panelists Terence Pleasant, Pari Faison Lucas, Taurus Savant and Javannah Davis along with organizations committed to keeping you healthy (like us!). It’s Saturday, 1 – 4 pm at Staybridge Suites on Genesee Street.
RIT Fall Community Service Fair
Friday, Sept 20
We’ll be joining 30+ other Rochester community organizations in The SHED between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., to commune with RIT students and spread the word about our studies. This fair is part of RIT’s FallFest.

The original June game was rained out, so we get another Pride Night at Innovation Field! Same gig, though: we’ll be handing out our traditional pre-game Skittles and tabling with swag and tips on HIV prevention in the concourse.

Pride Parade (Walk with us!)

It’s the happiest day of the year! And this year, the parade and festival will have a new route and location: Up South Avenue from Science Parkway, landing in Highland Park.

This year the picnic is being held at the Roundhouse Shelter at Genesee Valley Park. We’ll be one of the many community info tables there, enjoying the music, food trucks (yum) and entertainment along with a few thousand of our Rochester friends. More details and ticket info
Red Wings Pride Night
Wednesday, June 26
In what has become a beloved part of Pride celebrations in Rochester, the Red Wings will face off against the Scranton W/B Rail Riders with post-game fireworks. We’ll be handing out what’s become our tradition, too: free Skittles!

Henrietta Pride
Monday, June 24, 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Join us for the Town of Henrietta’s 6th Annual Pride Festival, with a flag raising, music, food trucks, drag performers, authors’ corner, community tables and vendors, volleyball, bounce house, lawn games, pop-up library, live action role play table, balloons for kids, tutu making, face painting, and crafts.
The Armory “Themata” Market
Saturday, June 22, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The Culver Road Armory (145 Culver in Rochester) hosts Themata — an arts and craft market featuring local artisans — on selected Saturdays throughout the summer. Themata donates some of the proceeds to a variety of social causes. The June 22 Themata will help raise funds for the Trevor Project and Mocha, and we’re excited to be tabling that day, too.
ROC Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk
Wednesday, June 19, 1 p.m.
This year’s Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk is meshed with an afterparty of live jazz starting at 4 p.m. It’s a great family event that starts and ends at Genesee Valley Park’s Riverbend Shelter.
Register online or the day of the event (from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Benefits go to constructing the Civil Rights Heritage Park at Baden Park.
FLX Pride
Saturday, June 15, 1 – 9 p.m.
Finger Lakes Pride is put on by the Family Counseling Service of the Finger Lakes. The festivities take place at 35 Lake Front Drive in Geneva (along the northern tip of Seneca Lake).
